TheKerzner@UJ is a conference, meetings, and hospitality services hub offering a broad range of venues and in-house hospitality services to individuals and groups of up to 200.

The main facilities are located at the Kerzner Building of the UJ Bunting road Campus, in Auckland Park. This is suitably located near major highways, the Sandton CBD, as well as the Johannesburg city center. Our venues accommodate a variety of special events including:

TheKerzner@UJ is the only banqueting and conference venue of its kind with a 4-star grading by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. Affirming commitment adhere to the highest standards of food and beverage safety for our staff and clients, our facilities are HACCP-certfified. TheKerzner@UJ is also affiliated to the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry.

KERZNER BUILDING: Bunting Road Campus

Our signature venues at the Kerzner Building are specially designed to enable flexibility and optimal space usage for a broad range of events – be it meetings, banquets, or conferences.

The building is aptly named after hospitality pioneer and patron of the School of Tourism and Hospitality, the Mr. Sol Kerzner.

  • Seats up to 100 cinema style | 60 classroom style | 30 U-shape | 80 cocktail | 60 banquet style
  • Break-away rooms can be arranged
  • Bistro can also be used as a separate lunch or dining area

Sun International Auditorium

  • Seats up to 147
  • Includes a large foyer that can be used for registration, entertainment, lunches, cocktail functions and exhibitions

City Lodge Syndicate Rooms

Three advanced venues. Seating 25 delegates each and a boardroom seating 16, are nestled behind a private glass door allowing you a tranquil space for your smaller conferences and meetings. Venues are fully equipped with standard audio visual (data projector and screen).

SHOWCASES & TEAM-BUILDIING

Center for Culinary Excellence Theater (CCE) – Skills Kitchen and Theater

  • Seats up to 40 pax cinema style | 40 pax on banqueting-round tables (10) | 20 pax classroom style | 15 U-shape | 50 Cocktail waist-high tables with no chairs (standing event)
  • Standard tablecloths provided in black or white
  • Registration Table (s) provided
  • Flipcharts and Pens (at an additional charge)
  • Can be used as a classroom or a demonstration kitchen where guests can observe whilst seated
  • Ideal for culinary demonstrations, cooking workshops, and team-building activities
  • The adjacent industrial kitchens are available to caterers and culinary professionals for hire

Empact Culinary Theater

  • Seats up to 45 cinema style
  • Provides built-in Audio-Visual Unit infrastructure for recordings and technical support 
  • Located within the Auditorium precinct, thus can be used as a break-away room  
  • Provides access to the Auditorium foyer that can be used for registration, entertainment, lunches, cocktail functions, and exhibitions

All venues packages include complimentary Wi-Fi access and secure parking for guests.  Full venue back-up power is on standby with our generator.  Holding rooms are available to book where required for artists, speakers, and dignitaries.  Please note that UJ has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy.
